Vintage Collection -

My paternal grandmother, Clyde Spencer was a prolific quilter. She made quilts for all of us. I began collecting vintage clothing, laces, linens, coverlets and quilts, when we moved to Nestledyn. My collection includes Grandmother's quilts and many others purchased for their beauty (color, pattern, craftsmanship and vintage). These quilts range in age from 1860's to 1940's.

Coverlets are earlier (1820 – 1850), reversible wool, woven by itinerant weavers in either overshot or jacquard style.

My library includes many volumes of facts and stories of quilts in American history. Underground railroad and Oregon Trail stories abound. Reference volumes on fabric dating, collecting and preservation are valuable to any collector. After all, collectors are merely caretakers for the future generations.
