Welcome to Nestledyn Studios. Vickie VanKoten lives in Hood River in a 1907 farmhouse. She has long loved the art of quilting. She has a collection of vintage quilts, her grandmother was a quilter, her mother was a tailor, and a good friend challenged her to begin her own quilts. She quilts for family and friends and calls herself a piecemaker as she designs and pieces her quilts but has them commercially quilted.

Vickie loves the process of using color, shape and texture to sew innovative quilts from traditional shapes and blocks. She is fascinated with ethnic and vintage fabric and will frequently recycle a fabric into a project. She is primarily a self taught quilter but in recent years has availed herself of classes from professional teachers whenever possible.

In 2004, she was certified by the Northern California Quilt Council as a quilt show judge. She has judged several shows and county fairs.

Vickie has been juried into several national shows including the Hoffman Challenge, AQS-Des Moines, Lowell Images (MA). Her work has been seen at several northwest quilt shows. She has won several awards for her quilting.
